I agree to what is stated above. Make sure you can keep steady alk levels and you should be fine.

Once I stabalized my alk my growth has been pretty good with a couple of my frags.

i agree with the birdsnest, montipora cap/digitata. the mistake i made in my first real reef tank was that i put those starter sps corals in "prime real estate". then as the tank matured and the corals were doing good i ran out of good spots to put all the nice acros and what not. you more than likely wont be satisfied with digis and caps for very long. id say try and get a frag pack with some acros maybe from another local reefer that you know have been in a stable tank environment for a while. tank raised acros will be more forgiving. if you get something thats maricultured or a wild colony, you'll be more likely to loose it or at least have it brown out on you.

Water changes and keeping parameters in check is all that's really need for a healthy system. With that in mind, go with the good stuff and stay away from "starter" frags. Like others have said on this thread, you get better frags and all your prime spots are taken unless you want to replace the rock.
