I've had mine running about 5 days now. It finally quit with the major overflowing. It's still skimming very wet so I've kept the drain plug open so it doesn't over flow over the top anylonger. How long did it take yours to break in and skim properly?

a week. Usually people run it in vinegar or something like that before they throw it in the tank. What is your water level as well?

right now it's about 7". water line is about 1/4" above the outlet opening. I've tried between that and about 8 1/2".

That you have to let the wet skim completed calm then you turn the stand pipe very slow for your flow(foam)up or down.if you turn it too fast it will causes over flow..!!

What happened with the skimmer? I've got mine plugged in now and at 7" it's going crazy. I figure it will settle down but wanted to check in.

I ended up setting it to where the water is just above the outlet and it's been working great. It did take several weeks for it to settle down though.
