5 month old 140 gal. Away on vacation and my tank has become extremely cloudy. Only 4 little fish. A few inverts Skimmer working fine. Not overfed. Appears circulation is fine. Temp fine.

No ammonia, nitrite. Maybe 5 ppm nitrate. When I left. Running GFO.
Strange occurrence.
Won’t be home until wed to do water change.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a bacteria bloom, it’s still a very young tank yet.

Thanks for your help guys. Had my son in law increase the flow from the tank to the sump by opening the drain valve a bit, and it seemed to do the trick. Redsea reefer, so not sure why it slowed down. With the water mostly confined to the display, my skimmer and GFO reactor weren’t getting enough action.

I’m assuming this was the issue, or else as you buds suggest, new tank bacterial bloom that is working its way out and coincidental with the increased water flow.

Will run carbon when I get home + 15% water change. Thanks so much for everyone’s help.
