Hey reefers! And Anemone enthusiasts, let's dive deep into one of the most debated topics in the hobby: Can you keep Long Tentacle Anemones (LTAs - Macrodactyla doreensis) and Bubble Tip Anemones (BTAs - Entacmaea quadricolor) together in the same tank? And what about letting them touch? I'm running a 13.5 with LTA and a 2 bubble tips and the long tentacle anemone has been in the tank for 4 years now and the bubble tips have been in for 3 months

Yes this is a hot topic of debate!

If you do I would run carbon 24/7. If they touch the more powerful sting will always win.

Some have been successful and others not so much by mixing anemones.

Ok I do have like a carbon media bag
That would work! Place it in a high flow area of the sump. It’s really as a precaution measure since we can’t see the toxins released if they decide to go to war.

The good thing about anemones is they can move. So if they do come in contact. The lesser will move away. During that time I would expect some sort of toxins released. The anemone toxins do have the ability to kill sps and lps corals so it’s always a good idea anyways to run carbon.
