VHO w/sps & lps

I just wanted to know what everyone thought about the following:

I recently found a deal I couldn't refuse on some VHO lighting systems...

I purchase a 4 bulb ARO VHO system for an unbelievable price. New bulbs.

48" 2 bulbs are 10k 2 bulbs are actinic. Each bulb is 110watts.

Has anyone had any success keeping encrusting montipora and acropora in their tanks with similair lighting?

I am right now, growth is about 1 " per month.

what size tank are we talking about?

a couple of years ago, i knew a local guy who had a 55g tank, and he had 4 VHO bulbs (i think).

he could grow all kinds of sps in his tank pretty much anywhere. and he liked it allot.

its a personal preference kind of thing...but i didnt like it. without the shimmering effect from MH's, it looks like PC bulbs....and the entire tank looks unspectacular.

also, all of the sps had funky colors.....some in a good way, some in a bad way. the colors on sps were more monotoned........as in every coral you would only see 1 color........you didnt see tips turning certain colors, and coralites turning a different color than the base.

growth was excellent though.......only tank i've EVER seen a purple monti digi be ENTIRELY purple....lol
