I just walked over to my tank and an emerald crab was sitting on two of my (now DEAD!) fish; my larger rabbit fish 3" and my coral beauty angel fish. Both fish and others in the tank appeared healthy earlier in the day.
I got that crab out of the tank. I may still have 2 other emerald crabs in the tank.
125g with ample live rock and some coral.

I am distraught!!

I did introduce a new brand name flake food yesterday.

My water tested fine yesterday at local fish store.
How do crabs actually kill fish??

Thoughts?

I could understand 1 fish
But two at once with the crab on both of them???
Earlier in the day my black kind spine urchin was in that same area.
I can’t figure this one out!
I’m so upset

did you take the fish out to inspect? i’ve never had this issue and have kept emeralds with much much smaller fish including a barnacle blenny without any incidents, coral on the other hand is a different story they have ravaged my coral but never fish, i don’t think an emerald would be able to get a fish and kill it let alone one that size

I suspected the crabs in the mysterious disappearance of a healthy fang blenny about a month ago. He used to hang out and sleep in the rocks where the emerald crabs frequent.
