Any vinegar dosers on here? Been dosing 80 ml's in my reefer 750 and nitrates are still at 18. Trying to get them under 10. Why is it not working?

Is there phosphates in the tank? The two need to be in balance to remove them using carbon dosing

I use vinegar, it brought my tank down from 80+ nitrates to 15 but it took a month and a bottle of phosphates to get there.

Been dosing for close to two months.
I’m not sure then but I do think your dosing enough, I do 30ml daily on my 120g, very heavy bio load, nitrates hover around 10ppm in my tank. phosphates at 1ppm. Are you changing your filter socks frequently? How’s your skimmer doing?

Skimmer is operating normal. I have no filter socks on the tank.

Same here. I noticed in my tank that if I skip a day and did not feed my tank, my nitrates would drop. So I figured this is where my nitrates are going to stay unless I feed less or upgrade the filtration.

If I were in your shoes, I would try to up the phosphates to around .07 (in case your testing on the high side of the accuracy range) but if nitrates stay the same for a week of that, then I would consider either; bio pellets, ATS or bigger skimmer to get even lower nitrates. Filter socks would help too but the hassle of replacing rolls or swapping socks is not worth it IMO.

But if your tank is doing well at the numbers your at then you should leave it be. 18 ppm nitrates is a good number

My old euphyllia 60g cube thrived with nitrates between 30-40ppm
