I replaced the thermal paste on mine. This is mine as of today 9" off the water all but the outer ring of lenses removed to save light spilling out the tank, and the new layout of mine.

settings are turned down to 35 blue, 1 white as when I was running it higher the hammers which are up the top didn't like it as much and not fluff up.
Where did you get your replacement LED's ? In particular the 20000k whites ?

I'm considering the ReefPi rout to control my lights 2 165w over a 75gl. how did you set yours up any good links or videos thx!
great thread OP @Nicholas Dushynsky

Currently mine are hooked up using these adapters:

You can do the same using relays to toggle the lights on and off, their ramping is controlled via pwm straight from the pi. Not sure if there are links/videos for it, but it's pretty straight forward.

I have 48 now and one Viparspectra 165W is that enough light or do I need 300 and what should my blue light number be on and my white number
Hi, 1 165w won't cover that size tank 2 would be perfect or the 300. I would start with blues at 20-25 and white at 1 then slowly work them up over the course of months, depending on what corals you keep and how high off the water you mount it/them.

Hey all! Looks like a great, informative thread. I have x3 165 watt vipars facing perpendicular over my 150 gallon tall tank, which is 2ft x 4ft x 31in. I have no idea if 3 is too many units and what to set my settings to. It's a mixed reef. I'm aiming for a more blue/color pop look. Any ideas what a good setting would be?

Hello! New reefer here, not new to tanks. I’m using 2 vipers for now. Currently set at 20blue and 2 white @18” above water. No coral yet still cycling. Just looking for % advice but everyone seems to be all over the place. 100 gallon tank, 5 feet long, 18” deep,” 20” tall
Any input is appreciated

All the readings they give are both channels at 100%. From what I watched they never have out their “optimized” settings
Are you sure about that? A lot of times they set lights to "suspected use color, which means dimming the white channel.
I'd have to check their exact video though. Or you can.. :)
Edit.. Looks like this was at 100%..

I think in one of the videos they did say to run whites at 10 or 20% of blues don’t recall exact

For a 5 foot tank, you might need another viparspectra unit but place them perpendicular over the tank. These things are only slated for 2x2 foot areas and you're mounting higher up. BRS tested at that mounting height and recommended 100% blues and 30% whites.
