I run mine 18 inches above the water so the colors blend better. O have some spill but what can you do.

way to bright, maybe 24" above tank Blues on 5% and W on 1%

Would be expensive spending that many watts on a 10g when much less would work

That seems good to me until it matures up a bit.
White especially helps the ugly stages, low light, low phosphate is a big help in reducing the amount and length of time it stays.

I’ve never moved my whites higher than 5% ever and during the first 6 months, 10%blue, started ramping up blues 10% a month and stopped at 80% and 3%. Never touched them in the following 2 years.

Below is two, Vipers over a 65g, 3 years old.

Great question….Yes, 80% blue pushed 500 on the surface. While nothing seemed to mine, I have reduced the the blue to 40% which pushed 350 at the surface (light is 8” from surface) about 150-175 12 “ down and 80-125 on the bottom, 50 in the corners.

I turned off the white/red/green channel (hated the colour) and added two 80 watt Halos running 50% (white and blue) which added good pop to the corals and helped mix the Visparspectra lights better.

Awesome thread! just ordered a 3rd on that sale. I took the other two completely apart. I have the led panels mounted directly on the tank lid, ordered 120 degree lens caps for better spread. mounted the power sup and control board under the tank. Here are some temp readings with no fan. from 100%b x 100%w power to 60%B x 10%W (which is were i've been running them) love the profile ie don't really notice them on top - so thin. temp is so low, I might spray them black and see what happens... here's my lame pt1 vid...

Hey all, I have just finished reading all the information in this group. Thank you to all who have made an effort to put results and data in this forum. I am about to purchase these lights for my 110 gallon tank 4x2x2(feet). It will be a mixed reef. How many lights would you guys suggest im thinking ill need 2. What are your thoughts?

Here r some pics to help visualize what is going on with the "spread" and why the company recommends 8". Yes I saw brs vid on this issue. I find it difficult to believe their par readings and maybe they don't apply to ViparSpectra... they tend to contradict themselves as time goes either way...
lens spread is about 20 degrees, mirror spread is about 90. the most light is in the 20. These pictures r a bit biased. it was difficult to get the paper just right for the picture. there is more light happening in the 90 than the picture shows but definitely not as much as within the 20 degree.

I literally traced the light and drew the lines in place.

I have 3 over my 125 mixed reef. I'm happy with them, cant beat the price, I have nice color and a lot of growth. I run mine at 55% blue 40% white. they are about a foot off the water. blue are on an hour before the white and stay on an hour after the whites turn off.
Hey buddie was just wondering if you are still using the vipar lights and how your corals are doing, I have the same size tank as and have 3 vipar 165w as you do and i'm trying to do some corals as a lot of this is new to me sense the last time I did a saltwater tank 20 years ago A LOT!!!! Thanks for your time and have a great day!!!

For the folk who swap their led diode for different color. Did you run into some of the leds not powering up until you turn it up to around 30%? I replace some of the white with 415nm and 2 of them don't light up until you crank it up to about 30% and 1 at about 20% till it light up. This is 300w one not sure if it bad LED but the other 415/425/450 work fine.
