I’m getting a 75 gallon reef tank and wanted a nice clean up crew. I’ve never used invertebrates as anything other then food for my mantis shrimp so I’m quite inexperienced so I got help from chat GBT here the list

  • Cleaner Shrimp
  • Peppermint Shrimp (x2)
  • Trochus Snails (x9)
  • Cerith Snails (x7)
  • Nassarius Snails (x9)
  • Bumblebee Snails (x10)
  • Fighting Conch (x2)
  • Scarlet Hermit Crabs (x3)
  • Pom-Pom Crab
  • Emerald Crab
  • Micro Brittle Starfish (x5)
  • Tuxedo Urchin

I’d cut the bumblebee snails and Pom Pom crab. 6 Nassarius snails would be enough. No need to go overboard.

No they shouldn’t harm anything. I would stay away from them because you are adding so much to a new system they might be out competed by the other inverts and just end up dead in the bottom of the tank

Would the pom-pom crab and bumblebee snails harm anything cause I mostly just put them in as decoration they weren’t really intended to clean anything
No they won’t hurt anything, pom poms are cool waving their little anemones in the air. I always keep bumble bees in because they keep my tank vermatid snail free. The most important is don’t add the herbivores until there is algae. A few at a time and increase slowly as the need increases. You’ll eventually reach an equilibrium.

I was planning to add a tang and angelfish so I should wait until there’s algae build up to add them
Well, with your size tank you are limited to a few types of tangs, so do your homework. You will also be limited to dwarf angels but there are some beauties to choose from. No you don’t have to wait, you can feed them nori strips and add in flake and/or pellet made for herbivores.

I like the blue leg hermits and tiger conches. Mexican turbos are great algae eaters.
