Hello Reef2Reef!

I am a fairly new member here on the forums and would like to share with you my step to step process on building my JBJ 30 gallon rimless tank. I know that there is a thread for JBJ specifically, but I would like to share my build with all reefers! I am in the stages of building a stand, I will post pictures very soon of the building the stand as well!

Currently my objective is to build a z/p dominated tank.

Equipment
Lighting: 120watt 16k Maxspect LED.
Flow: Stock JBJ pumps and a Jebao RW-4 (should i change out the stock pumps?)
Heater: Jager 75watt (will this be enough?)
ATO: Aquahub ATO DIY Kit w/ Aqua lift pump
Substrate: Shallow bed of Fiji Pink Sand
Rock: BRS Reef Saver Dry Rock (Acid Dipped)
Skimmer: None (weekly water changes)
Dosing: Kalkwasser w/ vinegar through ATO
Filters: (trying to find out a sponge like material to act as a filter sock!)
Monitor: Apex Junior
Stand: DIY 2x4 structure sided and trimmed with Oak and stained expresso

Livestock
Zoas...more zoas.... and more zoas
palys....more palys...and more palys
Jawbreaker and Bounce Mushrooms
Six Line wrasse (from a tank I'm tearing down)
Blue Chromis (from a tank I'm tearing down)
Ruby Red scooter blenny (from a tank I'm tearing down/don't worry he eats any frozen foods :xd:

Let me know if you have any thoughts or opinions along the way through the build!

Cant wait to get this thing on its stand and running!

put together some of my stand, sided it with 1/2" oak ply and structured it with 2x4's. Just have to build the face with the door opening and attach it. Then it's ready to get smothered with some wood stain!

New update! Cut the door opening, door, and shelf. Also got some Dark "Kona" stain from Lowes and stained it all this past week. Applied a semi gloss clear coat to protect from the water as well. Just had to apply the trim work and hinges and its ready to rock and roll.

Also decided to switch my maxspect led to a AL hydra. Also going to be running this RW4 and JBJ ATO.

Waiting on my Apex Gold Unit to come in this week! Cant wait to plug all this stuff in and get it running!

So I've been really behind on updating my thread so today is the day!

Since my last post I have applied all the trim work and added on the door. Along side I have moved it down to my fish room in the basement and have the tank cycling with water and live sand, Ive been working on my rock structure but can't seem to put together anything I am in love with! Very frustrating but its a work in progress! Overall the stand turned out very nice and the tank is running great!

Next up on the list is to hang my AI Hydra fixture over the tank, hook up my JBJ ATO, and put together my apex gold system (MACNA deal made me pull the trigger on that one...On the bright side I can run my 90 gallon off the same system I just need another power bar and some probes). Then my favorite part of it all!!! Add fish and corals! :becky:

Pictures will be posted soon!

Sorry I have been slacking on updating my build thread here is a put together picture of the tank and stand from a while back. It's been running a about 1.5-2 months. All has been good, I have all my Zoas in it and seem to be doing so so going from halide/T5 combo to the AI hydra. Looking at it now I wish I had a vega color over it.

I have the JBJ 20 RL with the Hydra, you have the controller right? I am able to adjust the light to my color preference.

Is that a BRS DIY screen lid?

Following.

Yeah I do have an apex that it's hooked up to, what settings do you keep yours at I think I'm running mine to strong? And no I don't have a screen lid on this tank at all.
