Hi all, so I finally picked up what I considered to be the nicest tank Ive ever owned. A fellow club member was down sizing and I picked up a reefer 250 with stand and sump for a good deal.

Ran into a large hiccup carrying the tank in my wife tripped, she caught the tank but when I was putting my end down I chipped a corner. Ive decided to epoxy it and will test it, it didnt even go halfway so I hope Im good.

Next task is the stand, its white and doesnt match anything in our house. Wife was throwing a fit so I decided to paint it. Lightly sanded the outside and applied two coats of rustoleum professional epoxy. So far this stuff is awesome, has a nice shine, went on smooth and feels like glass when dry, hope it holds up like it feels it should.

We leave on vacation next week so will wait to set it up when we return. Will be moving everything from my 60 cube over so will have plenty of good rock (also got 3 buckets full of live rock from previous owner). Also picked up two bags of live black sand.

Got my light today, reefer breeders 24 v2+ really like it so far. Ran into a snag, the mounts dont work with my nice screen top. I dont want to hang it from the ceiling as I have tall ceilings. Debating buying two regular light mounts (as my top has two cutouts in the back for them) and hanging it from them. The fixture has some weight would this cause a problem?

Cant decide if I like the rock work, always see other tanks online and say I want to do it like that and never turns out close lol. Id like to have more of two islands with swimming room all the way around but feel Id have to remove some rock to accomplish that. Plus I have multiple corals attached to rocks without plugs that makes placement difficult. Is a hammer/chisel the best way to break apart live rock?

Also got my utility cabinet setup, need to finish the shelves and tidy up but can now move my rodi over to make room for my refugium next to the sump.

Wow havnt updated in awhile. Fish all went to QT, in the mean time rearranged the rocks and like it a lot better not. Still battling cyano but did a deep clean in my nuvo 20 last weekend and so far so good in there. If it stays that way Ill probably break down and do it on my reefer too
