Wanting to get a wartskin angler

I’ve been wanting a wartskin angler fish for a while now. I got a deal on a nuvo 20 gallon with stand and sump the other day. Is this big enough?

Also have some feeding questions. I have an extra 5 gallon tank for ghost shrimp. Was planning to start with those and guy load them. What has worked long term for those of you with anglers? Is there a better option for starting out with a small angler?

Wartskin will work LiveAquaira does say that but, personally I would put them in a 30 but, 20 should be fine. I haven't personally owned a wartskin but, I've done plenty of research as I'm quite interested myself. I will put one in my 30 gal after I buy my 180 gal reef tank. Loaded ghost shrimp will not last a wartskin, you will have to move to live fish. Damsels are a great food for wartskin angler, they might be too big for your angler straight away so you can go with ghost shrimp. But, evantually you will have to switch to at least live fish w/ loaded ghost shrimp. You don't want the wartskin to die by eating a fish too big as their mouth is bigger than their brain! Anyways would love to see this guy, wartskins are one of my favourites, should be fine in 20 gallons, ghost shrimp should be fine for the start. Good Luck!

I usually keep my anglers in a bc29, but the warty would likely be comfortable in a 20g. Ghost shrimp and mollies is what I've found to be the best live food that is readily available and not that expensive. I keep a small tank with a sponge filter to keep my ghosties, I gut them them with a variety of marine micro pellets and flake food, as well as dose their tank with vita-chem. Sometimes when I pull the ghosties to be fed, I'll dose the feeding container with Brightwell Aminomega. The mollies I usually get a couple times a month on demand. I'll acclimate a few and let him chase them down over the next day or so. It's cool to watch them stalk and hunt and it's a great enrichment for a captive predator. You could breed your own mollies very easily or most fresh water lfs get molly babies and small mollies turned in all the time, They breed like rabbits and are less expensive and safer bet than marine fish because of potential disease. As good as it may sound to train them to dead food, they usually don't live very long on a dead only diet. With that said I've never had one live longer than 3 years. I will also add, it takes a special person to really enjoy this fish; they are not that active and many hobbyist get bored.

That guy looks pretty nice not use to seeing a more purple one or is that the lights? Very cute regardless!

LEDs are ramping down so there is more blue but it’s a gorgeous fish yellow red and purple. Red and purple are very much a coraline color

It's so nice love the coloration, I'm going to get myself one. Eventually...

See if this works, whoever said anglers don't swim. Mine cruises like this a few times a day.
