My war coral does not puff up anymore. Well say anymore it has been like 2 or 3 weeks. There is not tissue coming off, not loosing color, it kinda just looks like a red monti with green dots. It is sitting on the sand bed, about 25" from 150W MH, it has good flow (med I would say). Any ideas???/

My first thought is to raise it closer to the lights. Favias, in my experience, don't need to be close to the lights but yours might be just a bit too far from them.

i've had that happen to mine when I upgraded my tank. it took a week to figure out what spot it liked. You stated 25" from the light? and you are running a 150w? maybe that is the problem. try raising it a little at a time. too much might be a shock. perhaps you have a rock near by and you can place it on there and see what it does in a few days. also you can move it left to right in different flow patterns.

I have the same problem but i didnt realize it was an issue. I got a war coral awhile back and i glued it onto a rock. It has since spread over the entire rock but its just flat. The original frag in the middle is raised and the rest is flat.. I have mine about 16 inches from my 150 watt halides but ive heard its doesnt need alot of light. Its grows like crazy but it just grows flat. Its a little raised but not as much as the center obvioulsy.. Is this normal??

My War Coral is mid tank, 12" from the water surface and 12" from the lights,( a total of 24" from light to coral). I run 150's on a 155 bow front and it is growng well. I have started feeding cyclopeeze in the morning about an hour before I turn on the lights. The last time I fed when I turned on the lights I was so surprised because the war coral looked white. I looked closer and every eye was extended feeding! It was really cool!

I do not spot feed anything in my tank. I have an AIO tank so I just turn off all the powerheads and pumps except for one Koralia Nano for 45 mins and let everything eat. The WarCoral has actually grown it just does not puff up. I feed a mizture of cyclopeeze & Brightwell MicroBore w/ amino acids and garlic. I am going to try to move it today. It does have a powerhead sitting above it. The powerhead does not block the light but does make that side of the tank a little darker, kinda like it is overcast. The War Coral may just be a little picky because my Prism Favia loves it there.
