I have a few question for those who chose to run this or another bran.

  1. Why did you chose ecobak over another biopellet?
  2. If you chose another biopellet, why?
  3. how do you run your ecobak?
  4. would you recommend it?
  5. how quickly did you see positive results?
  6. any negative results?
  7. Would you recommend ecobak?
  8. how long have you been running ecobak?
  9. what does your tank have running on it equipment wise?
  10. what do you keep?
Thank you in advance.

I used WM Ecobak, 1/2 the recommended amount as a back up to liquid carbon dosing. My theory is that if there was a sudden nutrient spike then the ecobak would compensate. I also like the idea of bacterioplankton feeding my filter feeders.

Why did you chose ecobak over another biopellet?
I didn't want to try the first wave of pellets and I also started reading issues with some other brands. I read positive things by people using EcoBak and most importantly, it's made by Warner...
If you chose another biopellet, why?
NA
how do you run your ecobak?
I run the pellets in a Vertex Zeovit reactor. I also put my output of my reactor near my return pump instead of the skimmer pump because I am keeping clams and lps, I don't want a true ULNS. I just want to keep my parameters in check and be able to feed heavily.
would you recommend it?
Most Definitely
how quickly did you see positive results?
My situation is different in that I was vodka dosing for several years when I switched to EcoBak so I continued to dose vodka while initially running my pellets for a few weeks and just wean my system off of the vodka. I just wanted to continue with the positive results I was having and I did.
any negative results?
NONE
Would you recommend ecobak?
yes
how long have you been running ecobak?
Since the end of June 2010
what does your tank have running on it equipment wise?
I only run the pellets in the reactor and a SWC 250 extreme skimmer. I am dosing kalk manually but will add a kalk reactor also. I also dose DIY 2-part. I do not run GFO or carbon.
what do you keep?
sps,lps, clams, zoas

Thank you for the info. I have been debating using ecobak for a while now and really needed some info from people who have been using it for a while.

Sorry to hijack, but Paul_psu, how do you like your swc skimmer? I'll be setting up a 230 cone next week.
