Ok here is the deal
My 2 year old reefer 250 started separating on the front silicone. It got to the point where Red Sea sent me a new tank portion under warranty (totally bittersweet) but I am thankful. I have been dreading this for a month because I have such a perfect tank. Corals growing the rock together, on the glass, on the back wall. I could not ask for more. So after debating how to change it up a bit I decided to do it after 10 hour work day that was way to stressful for a Friday. Never did a build thread and thought it would be cool to do a break down/build thread. I got rid of most of my SPS to finance a beach trip and decided to go back to my roots and stick to LPS and some softies. I am ready to not have to test alk every day and relax and enjoy my tank. Here are a couple Picts to get going as I am doing it right now and taking a break and I know I won’t want to do this later. Some before in all its glory and how bad that stooped seam looked.

Time to grip it and rip it. So heart breaking but at least they came off in 1 piece. It’s also good that my wife is NOT home to count all my corals

Time to fill back up and prey for no leaks! Kept the old plumbing but got new o rings hopefully all is good cause everything in in buckets next to the tank with no where else to go. Getting the plumbing unscrewed was a total pain! I was scared to turn it too hard and break something. Being Friday night I would be screwed ordering stuff. Unfortunately my back up varios lost the smaller pipe adapters and I can’t find any bigger hose so I got to fill it up with the old bottom fed water change pump. Super slow

Ok after 8 hours finally done. I am not in love with the scape yet so maybe changes to come. At least no losses

It's a shame that you decided to get rid of such beautiful sticks. I've considered upgrading to a bigger, nicer tank but I'm too lazy to swap everything over. I guess in your situation you didn't have much of an option other than to swap tanks.

I went back to my “roots” of mostly LPS and was getting the shroom bug. It is tricky to have amazing SpS and LPS in the same tank. Since I have switched I get away with testing way less and I don’t stress about parameters as much. Super happy I did. It’s coming along nicely

Totally sucks that you were forced to swap tanks, but your new tank is just as beautiful as your old one! Nice job!
Thanks!! I could of probably gone a lot longer if not Indefinitely without having an actual leak but it was not worth the risk. It kinda turned me off about having to do it after such a short time. Red Sea was nice to swap but it should of not happened in the first place

Totally agree. I’ve seen one too many threads about RS tanks failing so now I check my RS tank’s seams daily with my fingers crossed

Plus I got to hook this local young guy up that was starting his business with a bunch of stock and he was very great full. I hooked him up with almost everything for a couple trades and a small bit of cash and dude was almost in tears. His wife just had a kid and they had a lot invested and were getting nervous, I like to think he got a leg up and I helped him. Every acro is coming back too! The little bits on the rocks are coming back

Since there is some new life here let me close this chapter. All in all the swap went perfectly! Goes to show if you plan correctly and work quickly you don’t have to risk loosing animals and give yourself a mini cycle. Tank is all settled In and the bits of encrusted acros that were left in the rock and coming back. Here is a little photo dump

Here is a little update action. No issues, no deaths, no BS. All the little bits of Acro’s that were left behind are taking off. Still dosing AFR, 29 ml daily. Cal 460 alk 9.0 mag 1460 po4 .04 no3 13.5. I can set my watch to those numbers when I test weekly My tank is so stable hope it stays that way.

In your original tank what was the yellow acro just to the left of center? Walt Disney perhaps, it was absolutely stunning.
Dang sorry I did not reply 3 months ago! My bad. That coral was ASD Rainbow Mille. Here is something funny I had just the smallest piece of encrusted Mille on this rock and it is coming back so strong. I have just let it do it’s thing and it’s a survivor. I think because aqua SD frags it so much this coral is super adapted to tank life. The WD was the little one to the right of the big colony.

Beautiful build and always an inspiration. Not worthy of getting buried in the wrong subforum. Reach out to a mod. Have it moved and finally get yourself a proper build thread tag so everyone can see your success!

Speaking of....My build thread is in that location but no banner? Any ideas how to add it?

I got rid of most of my SPS to finance a beach trip and decided to go back to my roots and stick to LPS and some softies. I am ready to not have to test alk every day and relax and enjoy my tank. Here are a couple Picts to get going as I am doing it right now and taking a break and I know I won’t want to do this later. Some before in all its glory and how bad that stooped seam looked.

I like it, as a softie for softies! Did my move 90 gallon about 3 weeks ago, leaking seams. Was about 10 hours on a Saturday. Long day lol....following this one!
