Water change

Do you guys do your water changes through the sump or through the display tank?

I have been running AIO's most recently, but I've had sumps in the past, and will be building a 150 gallon with a sump coming up. To me, I always syphoned water out of the display, largely so I can grab any detritus or other garbage that I want to remove. However, I'm starting to think that removing water from the sump is easier. I'm thinking about pluming a Tee or a manifold in my next sump, and then just pumping water out for a water change. I'm interested see what others think here.

Through the display, I have like 3 or 4 trochus snails in the sump so is not that bad

My 30 bare bottom mixed reef is packed, and it's hard to maneuver a tube around without knocking something down. I use us turkey baster to blow off the rocks and siphon out the remaining detritus from the display. Then, I use an electric gravel washer in the sump to perform my 10% water changes. I don't even have to turn off my main pump. Works for me.

I do mine through the sump in the chamber right after the filter socks. Added a small pump on a separate switch. I can pump out the desired volume and fill back in the sump. Less disturbance and dusting in the DT then. I don't knock corals over, and I don't have to lift buckets up in the air.
