When I do do one which isnt very often I remove some tank water and put some fresh salt water in. ;>)
Actually I do it using a clever piece of equipment called a Reefloat Automatic Water Changer.

I have a 200 gallon poly tank in a separate room. I open a valve over the sump and pump about 20 gallons into my septic system. I then pump replacement ASW through a 1" poly line that runs through my crawlspace to the sump. I usually do this twice a week for a 40 gallon per week water change on a 320 gallon system.

I just checked I do not know if 20 gallons will cause damage to your entire septic system including the concrete. But you should ask. It will kill your bacteria can break down the concrete effect the drainage field let alone the runs ( weeping Tile), as it will cause the soil to compact reducing absorption and maybe if enough to kill your grass

Most of these are very porous and leach silicates in the water often leading to diatoms and ph issues

People pump much more salt than that into their septic system if they use a water softener system

I actually researched this back when I had a 90 gallon tank. I've done it for years.

Am I missing something I though Randy Holmes Farley just was talking about the benefits of silicate since organisms benefit from it ?
Ok

I've been looking into an AWC recently. What sort of set up are you using?

I use two BRS dosing pumps on a timer to deliver water from a 2 x 44 gallon brute can reservoir.

Unfortunately water changes currently get done when convenient. Which lately is not often enough. trying to get back to good maintenance.

I am finally getting my mixing station finished and been looking at doing Daily AWC.

Tank is 265G system, probably 230 after rock / sand etc.

Going to do a 120G change here shortly and then introduce the daily WC @ 2.5G

Have a 50G storage barrel next to the tank that will hold my WC storage.

nitrates @ 72 and phos @ .95 currently

Would it make sense for the first couple months to do the daily 2.5 and every 2 weeks do a 30g swap.

This would allow me to use up my complete mixing tank - 60G approx. and mix/refill every two weeks.

Doing the 30G every 2 weeks also allows me to do some deeper cleaning for a while which is needed.

I keep 75 gallons of rodi fresh and 75 gallons of rodi salt at all times. My tank is 230 gallons. I do about a 10 to 20 percent w/c weekly. I just had my knees replaced which makes it much harder, but I just take my time.

My mixing station is 2 60g drums and have a 50g drum sitting next to the tank
