I am looking to add a controller to my setup but specifically for monitoring the water chemistry and dosing. I’m not really concerned about automation for lights/flow/top off/leak detector as I already have those setup. Is the only option out there the APEX w/ Trident? I know the MAVEN has been talked about for the last year but wondering if there are any other options out there specifially for water monitoring/dosing.

Thanks

I guess it depends on what you want tested and dosed.
I know of a couple of products designed to control alkalinity (test and dose) - "KH Keeper" and "Alkatronic" - I have not used either one.
There are many products that handle dosing without testing.

I use my Hydros to dynamically dose a KH buffer depending on the alkalinity test from the iV. I have a X10 for the dosing pumps for the iV and dosing the KH buffer. The X10 does have a spare drive port you can use to drive a simple doser for the drain pump for the iV and that would free up another X10 dosing pump to dose something else. i did this when I had the X10 setup stand alone and dosed All For Reef with one of the 4 X10 pumps. The X10 also has a salinity port and a pH/ORP port. There are also 4 sense ports. one can be used for a temp sensor. The other 3 can be used with leak detectors, flow sensors, water level sensors or a number of others. you can also get other Hydros controllers and create a collective with them. The collective acts like one large controller with all the input and output ports of the member controllers. So you can always add the Maven to a collective when it does come out.
