Live sand live rock and bottled bacteria about to get a blue legged hermit tooHow did you setup and cycle your new tank? The tank should be fully cycled before adding fish, I believe.
If you used live rock, you should be good to add a fish or two. Have the store double check the ammonia and nitrate levels. It would be helpful to have some test kits for this kind of stuff at home too, the Salifert brand is very good and fairly inexpensive. Of course, I understand creating a *need* to go to the fish store ;)Live sand live rock and bottled bacteria about to get a blue legged hermit too

Ok what’s a good reasonable priced test kit? ThanksDo you have any test kit at home? Not API? Test kit should come before fish.
The ammonia should be zero and some measureable nitrate, say 10. If both ammonia and nitrate show zero, I would hold off on the fish and investigate more.
