Waterbox 50.3 Build

Started moving over some corals and over the past 2 weeks have added fish. I’ve got some higher end zoas on a ceramic island which will make for a cool zoa island. I went so far with a pair of Kaudern’s Cardinals and a pair of snowflake clowns, one orange and one black.

Thanks man!! Moved some torches over, suffering a pretty bad bacterial bloom right now, so everything else is on hold until that works itself out.

Been a while. Added a few more fish to include a Royal Gramma and a Clown Goby. Also turned one of the back chambers into a fuge with Chaeto. I put a small acrylic box on the bottom of the chamber to keep the chaeto out of the baffles. I peeled some of the back off and I’m running the IM 18w Chaetomax light.

My aquarium is now approaching 4 months and seems stable. I added my first coral, a favia frag and it seems to be doing well. I will get some pictures soon.

My nitrates are high at 5 mg/L. I added my first frag that I believe is a Favia. Took a photo but it came out too dark to post. Need to work on that! My CUC is doing a great job with algae and consist of 4 hermit crabs and 9 snails of various species including turbos.

OK. My aquarium is 15 months old and seems to be stable. Moving along slow and steady. Currently have 2 clown fish, a fire fish,a yellow watchman gobie and a 2 spot signal gobie. Corals include a acan, a brain type coral a clove polyp and a cyphastrea. All are doing well.

The light bleed through shouldn't be and issue, assuming that you have rocks blocking the view of the false wall. Also you would be usually running the light at night while your display lights are off. Hope this helps! ~ Shaun K.

Hi! Would the refugium light bleeding to the display at night cause more algae growth in the display? My panels are tinted black so if I have the refugium light running at night (reverse schedule), the light will be visible in the display. Will this be an issue?

It depends on how much light will be visible in the display and a variety of other things such as nutrients and bioload. I would say if it's just a small amount like "moonlight" it shouldn't be a problem; however I would also allow nights where the refugium light is off so that there are periods of "night" in your aquarium.
