Waterbox EX 110.4 Build

Filled the tank 1/4 way last night and filled the overflow area while the valve was closed to make sure it wouldn’t leak. This morning started filling again and added the Meridian and tonight will be salt time!

Plan to move everything over no later than Tuesday.

I left it at 3.5” to the wall. Seemed to be a good spot to keep the plumbing from touching. IMG_1111.jpeg IMG_1112.jpeg

Hey everyone! I wanted to give you a quick update on how things are going. So far, everything’s been going great! I still need to glue the corals down instead of placing on sand and epoxy some of the rocks together, but I’m working on it. Even saved just enough room for the Maven ;). Oh, and I definitely need to find a way to organize those stray wires and mount the isobar. But hey, at least I’m making progress! IMG_1153.jpeg IMG_1154.jpeg IMG_1155.jpeg

Hi,
I'm looking to get one of these. I'm very intrested in the Sump. How do you like it?

This is my first sumped tank, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. But I really like it! The RODI chamber could be a bit bigger, but other than that, it’s super quiet and has plenty of room for all my equipment.

Short YouTube Tour!

I finally finished gluing and epoxying everything, and I even built a little shelf for all my extra reefing gear. Everything is all settled in and seems to be doing great! Little cloudy from moving everything around during scaping.

The tank looks awesome. But that tubing on the back . . . Its a turn off. . . They could have hidden that.
Definitely could have hidden more behind the tank, but on the flip side, this would be slightly easier to maintain if the need arises.

Thanks! Love the tank and everything seems to be thriving 😁

Man…..I would try and switch to the EX just for the little extra interior tank space and they fixed the structural issues the regular 110.4 stand had. It’s as stable as can be.

Hello, I can't find any info on this tank online. Waterbox website is scarce as far as this particular model line.

I have a few questions.

Did you run into any issues with that rear EX overflow leaking?
Did you run into any issues with the dual returns leaking?
If so.....how tight did you have to turn it?
Is the EX overflow box a nut and gasket design or is this thing silicone glued to the rear?
Is it quiet?
Is it glass or plastic? (EX overflow and lid specifically and the internal overflow box and lid as well)
Have you done a power outage test? (How does the EX overflow handle it)
What size return pump are you using (GPH)

I hear folks comment about the noise from the Shadow overflow box. I like that this is all pre-fab and you don't have to do any pvc and gluing work.

I'm looking at this tank or the INFINIA FRAG 125.4 which is 48x24x16. I like the shallow depth of the INFINIA FRAG more, but I love that Waterbox has come out with an external overflow design.

Thank you.

Nope, zero issues with leaking.

Did you run into any issues with the dual returns leaking?

One leaked during the leak test, so l figured I just didn't tighten it enough.

If so.....how tight did you have to turn it?

German spec...... Good-n-tight!
Don't crank down on it and break stuff but make it tight.

Is the EX overflow box a nut and gasket design or is this thing silicone glued to the rear?

Nut and Gasket (tiny 1/4" gap between overflow box and back of tank)

Is it quiet?

Extremely! Took a few days to dial it in but now I can hear my skimmer over any overflow/sump noise. (Made a few videos for you this morning)
Sump:
Overflow:

Is it glass or plastic? (EX overflow and lid specifically and the internal overflow box and lid as well)

It's all plastic other than the lid for display tank side which I think is glass? Don’t quote me on that. Forgot to check

Have you done a power outage test? (How does the EX overflow handle it)

It has a check valve, so it empties the overflow in about 15 seconds, and that's it.

What size return pump are you using (GPH)

I’m using a Reef Octopus VarioS-4 at 60%

Little update on my tank. Everything seems to be settled in now, and I'm quite certain I've placed everything as optimal as possible. The only exception is the large hammer that's on the sand. It has 20 heads and is quite challenging to find a suitable spot for it since it grows so rapidly.

What a sad bummer......called Waterbox and it looks like the new 2026 ones that are shipping out no longer use the aluminum frame.

Hmmmm weird. Hopefully not full pressboard!

Edit: Looks like they call it marine-grade laminated cabinet so hopefully it’s marine grade plywood and not just a stand made out of the same junk you can pickup at Petsmart!

I’m happy with my innovative marine EXT. as far as I know they’re still using the aluminum stands
