Happy New Year everyone!!

My goal is to document my struggles and successes to help others along the way with this build. I've gained so much by reading others build threads when I was out out of the hobby for some time due to kids activities etc...

I first got into the hobby in 2013 with a 60 gal cube that turned into a 180 gal tank. Got in over my head with the 180 gal due to kids activities (gymnastics and baseball) and ended up selling the tank. Fast forward to 2021 and I got back into the hobby with a IM Lagoon 50 AIO tank that transitioned into this tank.

My vision for this tank is a mixed reef/ Caribbean biotope as I'm looking to recreate my experiences while scuba diving in Bonaire over the years. Although this may be a challenge from a coral standpoint although there seems to be no shortage on fish from the Caribbean.

Equipment List
Tank: Waterbox Infinia 275.6 Dims 72.3” x28.3” x23.6”
Lighting: 2 x AP9X w/ AP9X Mounting Arm’s

Flow: 4 x MP40
Return Pump: Vectra L2 (3100 GPH)

RO/DI: 5 stage BRS 150 GPD w/aquatech booster pump

Picked up about 150 lbs of a mixture of pukani, Fiji, and branch rock off of FB Marketplace locally from others tank breakdowns. Bleached the rock for a week and then dry out in the Florida sun for a week. Pictures below of rock and aquascape (front, sides, and top down)

10/30 Tank filled and return pump turned on
11/3 added Brightwell Quik cycle ammonia along with MB7 and MB Clean
12/12 Cycle completed, added 4 red leg hermits and 2 cleaner shrimp from Lagoon 50 tank

12/13 added 10lbs Kp aquatics Live rock. Received 3 rocks (2 that were 8" across and 1 smaller softball sized)

Will definitely purchase again, rock shipped Tuesday arrived at my house Wednesday afternoon around 11am. Tons of hitchhikers and life. I battled Dinos in the lagoon 50 trying to eliminate hitchhikers with a dry rock start. Pics of KP rock below...

Are you still happy with the KP Aquatics live rock?
Yes, I'm still finding critters every few days from worms to feather dusters and most recently a tiny pistol shrimp. I purchased the foundation rock and most of the rock 60-70% is covered in Coraline along with sponges etc...

This is my first tank set up with live rock out of the ocean and although some will say it's not worth the stress of introducing pests/hitchhikers. I feel the pro's outweigh the cons.

That's great to hear.
I am thinking of getting a mix of their dry, shelf, and live rock to seed my tank. Any pests yet?

Not yet, the pistol shrimp may become an issue down the road. I’ll cross that bridge at that time.

I ordered 10 lbs to seed my tank since I already had dry rock from previous tanks. If I had to do it again I would prob go 50/50 between dry and the starter rock. There’s so much life on the rocks.

I will definitely order again, rock was shipped Tues evening and arrived at my house 11am Wednesday.

Evening. I’m thinking of getting the same tank. How have you found it? Also. How have you managed the cabinet as there doesn’t seem a lot of room for dosing solutions and my apex.

The tank is great, will definitely need to get creative in sump area as there is little room. I've thought about covering the ATO reservoir and building some sort of shelf for dosing etc...

Hi

I’ve just bought the same aquarium. I’m having it delivered and then storing it for a few weeks whilst I plan my swap over. Any tips you would give me about the tank?

I struggled for a bit to quiet the system down as most of the noise was coming from the sump between the refugium/skimmer section (waterfall from refugium baffle into skimmer section) causing excessive noise. I ended up adding about 7 gallons to raise the water level in the sump and putting my skimmer on a stand.

Now the water level is even between the 2 sections.
