People,

I need some help with my watermelon chalices only. I have a large system that holds a little over 400 gallons of water and a rather small chalice frag station wich is 30g tied into the overall system. I have mummy eyes, Pink *******, miami hurricane, Gold rush and a few others, besides the 5 different watermelon type chalices. All the other chalices Inflate and release there feeding tenticles and grab food . My watermelon chalices never puff up or realese there tenticles? I have one 250w 20k light around 12" above the tank wich is 12 " dept. I put the watermelon chalices on the bottom to see if this helps, it's only been a few days. My lighting time frame is 5 hrs opposit schedual from my display tank lighting. I feed with Myis and lps small food. Did I miss anything or do watermelon type chalices need different attention?

thnaks Bill

Have you tried coaxing them to eat by just leaving the food on it's mouth for awhile?

As Nuocmam says, leave a little food on their mouths for a night or two while the lights are off at they will probably start feeding :)

In my experience, WM chalices can be a little more reluctant to feed. Perhaps they are more "light dependent that other species, as they seem to tolerate higher light levels that some of the others, in general.
