yes. they are junk and will easily split open. i’ve tried them. i’ve also tested plastic coated magnets and epoxy coated magnets. all had downsides. that’s why i just made my own. i know these are reliable.

Sounds cool but sounds pretty sketchy because plastidip can chip off.
That was just one suggestion, you could also dip them in epoxy and be done with it. There are other things like plastidip but much more rugged. As for the epoxy thing grab the magnet glue a peice of fishing line to it on the side dip it in the epoxy once it dries shave the fishing line if. Dont use cloth ir fiberd stright as it can leave a small amount of area that can whick water into it.

I was wondering how one would dip a magnet without leaving a thin spot regardless of how small would work while drying .

I was wondering how one would dip a magnet without leaving a thin spot regardless of how small would work while drying .
Super glue the tip of 8lb test fishing line to one end of the magnet, dip it. Cut the line and nip it flat. Super glue line to the opposite side of the magnet, which is now coated, and dip a second time.
