Hey guys, I was reading an article on reefbuilders and was curious if anyone here has used the Waveline RLSS R10-U protein skimmer?
It uses the Waveline DC5000 pump which is a controllable/variable speed DC powered pump, the pump at full blast has the ability to put out 1320 GPH
Since this pump/skimmer utilize DC current it comes with a controller that allow you to increase or decrease the speed/rpm's of the pump as well as having a "feed" button that shut off the pump/skimmer for 10 minutes to allow you to feed the fish/corals as well as allow you to dose the tank with whatver chemicals you may use without the skimmer going crazy
I want to know who uses this skimmer as I will be putting a sump on my RSM130 very shortly and I want a REALLY good skimmer because I like to feed my corals quite often, I will also be using a controller on this tank to control and monitor every aspect that I can "I will most likely be using the Reef Keeper"
The only thing that this DC pump doesn't have "although the may eventually" is a din cable or some way to hook it up to an aquarium controller to allow it to be connected with everything else
They also make an R8-I/R10-I which are essentially an 8" and a 10" internal skimmer which it seems the R8-I may work best for the area I have but it is the same skimmer as the the R10-U just with an internal DC-5000 pump
Here are some pictures of the skimmer and pump to give you an idea of what it looks like
