Weeping Willow Frag Closed for a month.

So I got a frag of Kevin’s OG weeping willow a few months back. It did great for several weeks but has been closed up for over a month now. I know toadstools can close up for a while every now and then, but this time it seems too long. Started after a couple day long heat wave, followed by a dead clam which spiked my nitrates to 150!

Nitrates are still slightly elevated at 40, but my tank usually averages around 30, so not out of the ordinary. Alk is at 10, mag at 1300, and phosphates at 0.02

The base of the stalk seems to be getting thinner as well. Any idea how I can help it? Would hate for such a prized frag to be wilting away. Should I try fragging off the base?

FWIW my other toadstools seem to be doing just fine.

Is algae growing on the stock? That doesn't look good.

This guy should be in medium+ flow, most of the toadstool issues I see here are from not enough flow.

Phos at .02 is quite low as well, personally I'd like to see that at least .06, but I try and keep mine between .1-.3.

It is a high flow area for sure, but can increase more to test.

Worth doing a quick diluted peroxide dip to get rid of that algae? Have seen a couple videos online with some success…but curious to the forum’s view.

I haven't had much luck, but if that were mine I'd probably try it.

Just sharing an update here…so I took the blade to it and the frag is recovering well. The rubber band unfortunately sliced the crown in half so I have two mini frags now…but I am glad it is back in the game.

So you fragged it? Mine is doing this but uts polys are just bumps
