Hi guys. I bought this Gem from my friend and noticed that the 2 or 3 weird white spots on my Gem. I don’t know if it’s ich or something serious. Please identify. Thanks everyone
Edit: I just have this Gem for like 2 days ago. When it was arrived, it laid down and heavy breathing due to lack of oxygen. I used airstone and it was fine. It’s swimming and eat algae off my rock and sand bed normally but I’m just wondering that those weird white spot is normal or something serious like ich or any disease

Hard to tell from the photo. I would quarantine and treat it myself. Some people quarantine and some others don't.

Just noticed it's a video. Nice looking fish. If it is ich you could have a long battle ahead if that's your display tank. I wish you luck .

At the end of the video, it will be a bit better quality to identify. I don’t know if you can see the attachment as a video or picture. Also, this fish is in my friend tank for awhile. My po4 is 0.07 and no3 is 4. I don’t know if taking back home make the Gem very stressed to have ich or so.

Good thing about ich is it doesn't kill quickly. Sadly it's in a display tank. Stress is real. Glad you're thinking about it. If it is indeed ich you can treat it. @Jay Hemdal has information on it. More than one way.

Those numbers won't stress your gem. But I would wait until others chime in with a diagnosis and treat before putting it in it personally.

Yeah I don’t think my parameters stressed the Gem. Just transporting made him stressed. But I’m really hope that it’s just some stress related cause I just got this Gem for like 2 days

Can you get better videos/pictures. I wouldn’t jump to conclusions, looks a little big to be ich

Transportation is stressful. I also keep lights off the first day at a minimum. Could it be sand? I do hope you all the best. And please keep us updated

Unfortunately, I can’t right now because my light is off for awhile. I will give you guys a better quality video on tomorrow. I believe that at very end of the video that has a bit better quality if you can pause it on right time and help me identify? Yeah my friend and my brother said the same thing which it’s a bit bigger to be ich but it’s been like that for 2 days.

This appears as lympho which is viral and dont think mucus cones but right now , not ich. Ich moves each 24 hours in number and location and keep an eye on fish and see how it looks again tomorrow. It often takes them a few days to physically eat . Tail also shows spots which again may be lymphocystis

I can see one of the spots sort of moving in the water current, and the spots are too large to be ich. They are in the wrong location to be Lymphocystis. I think they are skin tags from net and transport damage. They should heal on their own.

That said, the fish *could* have some other hidden issue, including ich.

How long had your friend had this fish?

It’s eating well, swimming normally and not breathing heavily or rapidly. I just noticed some weird spot on its body

My friend had this Gem for 2-3 years. It could be damages too because my friend broke down his tank slowly ( not tank crashing, just break down the tank to move out of state). Gem and his blue hippo tang started fighting because my friend took out its sleep place but I came by and took the Gem home right after
