Hi all,

My wife has been running a PNW Custom Small in One tank, it's doing great and one particular yellow zoa has been growing quite prolifically, however it has slowly been developing this strange bulbous mutation and recently it's gotten to the point where it's a bit unsightly so I'm wondering if there's anything we could do to address this?

I imagine one option is simply culling this section of the zoa growth but I'm just very curious what this even is. Please see the attached picture.

Any help would be appreciated!

Nope, got plenty of other zoas growing well in there. Cloves, Mushroom, Blasto, Micromussa, Goni, mini Acantho all doing great. It's just this one colony of Zoas that's doing it.

I'd lean towards just culling the portion. Maybe moving the colony to another area of the tank. Maybe someone with direct experience with this phenomenon can speak on it.

Right, I'll probably end up cutting that section off but I'm curious if anyone else has any insight as to what may have caused it.

Definitely an oddity I've never observed before!
