One of the problems of the media is that they do not report the news any more. It always more of an editorial then actually reporting the news. If I was against the war I wouldn't print anything about the stuff that is being rebuilt which there is. What they also don't tell you is the fact the most of what you see nightly is a 50-100 square mile of Iraq. There are 18 providence I believe in Iraq and 4-5 of them are having major problems with violence. Of course the ones with violence are the ones that is going to be shown on the news because that is news worthy. How interesting or important is a new school being built in Kirkuk? Not really eye grabbing. The media of yesteryear although had it's issues was more of "here is whats happening" make your own decisions. I don't think Fox is more conservative then CNN is liberal, it's just more apparent that there is a conservative slant to them because there are no other news channels that have a conservative slant.

but is that rebuilding even taking place an longer? afaik almost all of that has been stopped for security reasons, plus you have the haliburton job where they had sewage pipes emptying into interior walls of a building we paid them a lot of money to put up.

the southern provinces, which are not embroiled in violence, are majority shia, and are now basically run by iranian backed religious leaders. while they might hvae control of their province, baghdad is a mess, and as baghdad goes so goes the country

My personal opinion is that we are not going to get much furher than we already have. Its up to the people of Iraq and other countries to stand up to violence among themselves. Although i actually agree with what Bush did. I belive that sending more troops in there is just momentarally keeping peace while we dont have to live in fear of being attacked. The fact of the matter is that we will never kill or defeat terrorism. It will continue to pop up all over the middle east. But if we do pull out in the future, when the dems get control,(probably by 2008, president and all), terrorism will then grow and spread. And then we will live in fear. Im kinda ramboling at this point but i just had to say that. :)

Sending more troops is agian a momenttary solution to the middle easts many problems....

There was a guy at church a few months ago who just got back from Iraq and spent half his time in Fallujah and the other half helping rebuild in Northern Iraq. One of the things he said was that there isn't enough of the news covering the good that is going on there and that is one of the major issues with the troops and media here at home. Yea there is bad things happening there but there is also a lot of good that get swept under the rug due to the bad. He said that there are still Iraqi's that come up to troops thanking them and clapping at them and giving them hugs, but that isn't being told either..... They did stop much of the rebuilding in the 4-5 Providences that are having violence but there are still thing being rebuilt in other areas where there is quiet.....

I will say this too one of the biggest mistakes that was made was firing off all the former soldiers and police. I think that also cause a rift in what other wise might have had great positives with their help. I have read and talked to a few people who know some Iraqis and most of the military didn't have great allegiance to Saddam, but if you didn't fight you ran the risk of having your family killed and when there wasn't much money being dispersed because of the hardships of the sanctions the military and police was one of the best jobs to provide for your family whether you liked Saddam or not.

im with you on that one, disbanding the army and de-bathification was a bad mistake, and largely the cause of our current lack of security.

i don't envy the president right now, there are no good answers and no good solutions; no matter where we go from here will lead to more bloody violence and things are going to get a lot worse before they even have a chance to get better.

I will say this. The media is sooooooooo bias and if you believe all the crap they publish then I can see where all the anger stems from. The media has been against Bush from day one so of course every negative thing is going to come out. The media wants a liberal democrat and thats the bottom line.
