Its a joke, Him and his 6 years in. Beavis and butthead.

Touchy subject.

Just Butthead....

I guess, since he is already going to be impeached since the dems now have control, he thinks if he makes one last ditch effort to fix what he broke, it will save him. It wont. He was doomed to fail since his first day in office. he is an idiot.

Ok.. this may sound harsh, but In history, most countries go through some type of civil war. Is it terrible to let them have their civil war and come to their own gov't? Our country wouldnt be what it is without our civil war.
I really truely believe the only reason we are there, is to secure the oil fields, and those iraqis that own/run them. If a civil war breaks out, the Oil production will cease, or go to the black market, and drive costs up worldwide. America knows this, and deep inside, thinks that if we stop the civil war we can keep getting our oil.

If oil companies would just stop fighting the alternative power sources, we wouldnt need oil, and thus wouldnt have stake in the middle east.

I say let them fight.. we dont need their oil.

right now al qaeda is shipping oil out of al anbar province to fund their activity; we don't have the oil up an running ot any measurable degree due to lack of security

all politics aside, i'm really happy about some of the bills they are trying to pass in this first 100hrs.

-raise minimum wage
-stem cell research
-decreasing interest on student loans (thats a biggie in my eyes...no more screwing over the middle class)

i heard Jay Leno say something funny about gas prices, he was commenting on how the price of a barrel of oil dropped way down the other week, and was like..."do you know what that has done for gas prices?.......ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!...now the gas companies are only making a marginal profit." hahaha

....sad...but probably true.

i'm not even sure i totally understood why they raised interest rates on student loans out through the roof anyways?

other than the obvious, that since they cut taxes they needed to get money from somewhere. but thats just dumb to pass the cost on to people trying to get a good education. basically makes it so only the poor or rich can afford it.

I wish we would get rid of the parties and form one union. All they do is point fingers at each other instead of trying to make America a better country. Also I dont know if many of you know. That most of the oil consumption for USA is from Argentina, Venezuela, and Alaska. Arabic crude oil is very hard to refine. It actually cost alot more to refine to it high impurity levels. Most of a barrell of oil after catalytic refining ends up being lubricating grease, and kerosene. I think like 20% or less ends up being used as a gasoline product. I have to look at my notes when I was in college. The media tries to blame this war on oil but it really isnt. Thats just a poor excuse because our media is driven by a certain party's view.

This is all I will say in this thread. I like Bush and I thank God we have had in during this time and not Kerry.

Done. :)

i like him as a person, but in my estimation he will end up being one of the worst president's in the history of our country, and likely be credited with starting what will be the decline of american dominance in the world.

interest rates went up for everyone, student loan rates are just tied to the federal reserve set rates.

i am religiously opposed to the idea of a minimum wage, if you want to help poor people out an earned income tax credit is a much better way; most people who work for minimum wage are high school kids, and they don't deserve any more than someone is willing to pay them. that said, the mw hasnt' been raised in so long that it will likely not have a substantial effect on
wages or unemployment.

while oil plays a small part in this war, it is as much about the neocon's thinking that a military that goes unused is a waste of resources. If you haven't heard eisenhower's farewell adress to the nation (militaryindustrial complex speech), you should; he is both foreboding and prescient as he warns us that the growing influence of the military should be kept in check, lest we be pushed into wars of choice.

most of our oil comes from canada, then mexico, then saudi arabia, then venezuala, then nigeria

nigerian oil is the light sweet crude that is refined much easier and cheaper, the stuff in alaska is not, and requires much more refining.

The decline of American power starts with the american people. The American society has lost its sense of creditablilty, ethics, and morality. A majority of the population are out for themselves and stop at nothing to better themselves. This is tearing apart families, which in turn tears apart society which in turn destroys a nation. The country is falling apart from the inside out, the principles this country were founded on (the truth of the word, which sets us free) are long gone, and whats left is demoralized debatury of the nation, destroyed families, and a class of super rich idiots like Donald Trump, Hugh Hefner, Anna Nicole, [insert the name of your choice piece of crap super star here]. The only time American's 'come together' as a nation is when there is a catastrophe like 9/11, and that only superficial temperary thing to do, there is not true American spirit here anymore. The American public has no idea how blessed they are to live in this nation, and they are going to be extremely shocked when the freedoms we have are gone.
