What seaweed/vegetables do you feed your tangs

I use all three nori sheets form three little fishes. Mine seem to not love red but eat purple and green. For everyone that is feeding seaweed extreme is this something I can just throw in my avast holder and let it push out if I mix it in? Or do I need another type of auto feeder for this specific one?

I see a potential clogging issue here as this stuff is like toilet paper when wet

That’s what I was wondering, thank you

Seaweed extreme has been the right tool for me. High fiber food that gets fed consistently on an auto feeder.

If I do other solutions the algae ends up being more of an occasional treat than dietary staple.
Same. Started using that in the Plank and doing away with Nori all together. Doesn't spike phosphates like some Nori does either.

if you mean the avast plank, then there should be no problem with seaweed extreme. I put seaweed extreme, tdo, and reef jerky in my plank and it’s just fine.

Edit. Also funny that yours are like mine….preferring green and purple and not touching the red 2 little fishies

Thanks I’ve only ever used their reef jerky in it so far and the fish love it but figure mixing this in and maybe something else would be good too idk

No one feeds their fish little neck clams sometimes?

I've fed Atlantic surf clams before and the fish (especially the cuban hogfish) went nuts for them. Less mess with those littleneck clams I bet, they're alot smaller.

None of the above. All my fish get live worms, clams, mussels and LRS food. They don't know they are vegetarians. 😎

The pictures you shared the other day of the shoreline you harvest stuff at looks like it has a lot of growth on the rocks. Is that green growth Ulva? Ever notice your fish eating that green algae when you throw the amphipods you collect in your aquarium (assuming that algae makes it in your tank)?

I haven't found anything that eats Ulva, and I have loads of it here. It is kind of thick and plasticky.

The stuff on these rocks is not Ulva. I don't know what it is, but it is soft and kind of looks like thin grass when it is submerged. My fish do eat it, but I don't add it on purpose. When I collect water, mud, or amphipods, I inadvertently pick some of that up, and it gets in my tank.

It is probably healthy food.

I don’t know if the ulva species you find is the same as what I got from Gulf Coast Ecosystems, but my yellow tang and one spot foxface love that species. I grow it in my refugium for them.

Francois Neo nori every other day, tank scrapings on off days (I wish i was kidding), Sera vegi flakes and New Life Spectrum pellets daily, with a biweekly Hikari Angel complete cube. My rabbitfish is very particular lol.

Funny , when I see the pic of ulva enteromorpha that y’all are growing , It reminds me of what I stand on at the jetties in Port aransas Texas always being pounded by the waves flooded or left high and dry with the rising or sinking tide . I did a search and see that it is in Texas and probably is the one on the rocks . I don’t have Port A scheduled this summer . So I may have to wait till next year . If it is the one , it needs a lot of sun and water surge . Went down to the coast along some marsh early in the year and found a single strand of Salicornia . It’s hanging on but now I want to go back and collect that in a larger qty . Along with some Gambusia affinis (mosquitofish) and some grass shrimp. My last batch of shrimp became food for a lantern bass .

I don't know either but in the shallow water near shore it is hard to anchor a boat because Ulva grows about 2' high and it is very thick so an anchor slides right over it.
