Well it finally happened to me

Have toy guys ever gone into a fish store just to get intant ocean or something and you see a really good fish for a really good price and you go home with a little friend. It finally happened to me . It was an equiste fire fish for 10 dollars and a regal angel for 35 dollars. Right now they are drip acclimating for qt and im going to need a new tank because i dont have a spot for the fire fish yet.

Apparently previous owner gave it up and they didnt have tank space for it. It was in like a 10 gallon because they didnt know if it had disease and they didnt have room for it in their dt

If those two fish were 10 and 35, I'm questioning why you didn't buy out the store......both prices are insane!

Rest of the prices were fairly normal. Im going to have to visit this place more often

I usually know what fish i am looking for. The exact fish when i go into a pet store.. When i see that fish i look at how long they have had it.. I will walk around the store look at it again.. If its THE Fish I am looking for..
With the above said I would have bought them as well. Even with my last 3-4 week events i am still recovering from .. Read my Build thread post 1.. Giggles..

Awesome catch ... I am not sure even i could have passed that up with Iron CLAD restraint .

I once considered myself to have the best restraint. I once went 6 months without adding fish to a tank because nothing caught my eye, but all that changed when i saw a flameback angel for 30 bucks. Everyone has a breaking point lol

We have a 220 gallon tank.. OLD Tank was 240 but different format.. THis one is super all.
Anyway.. We go to look at fish and i sO SO SO Want to buy.. We have 9 FISH in the 220 gallon tank . We learned our lesson of impulse buying. But that goes beyond just fish. we paid off our mortgage and all other debt Buy a few rules I know we are boring .

1. Do i need this.
2. Will i miss the money to buy this.
3. will i like this in 6 months .
4. do i know how to use or take care of this Right now . Before i buy it.
5. What if i want to use this money for something better next week . (this one saves us from a lot of wrong purchases)
6. Do i want to work 120 or 60 hours next month ... My wife does not care about this. she does not work.. But well..
7. always Put more money in the BANK Each week then you take out.. ..
yea i know I am old and boring..

But bad financial decisions are a heck of a drug haha. Yea i still put away most of my money most of it isnt even liquid but hey thats the beauty of investing

I prefer to buy fish like this. Sometimes I have something in mind but I still love the awe of walking into a fish store and not knowing what to expect. This is only heightened by the fact I now live out in the middle of no where and Saturdays are no longer spent at various reef shops. Many times I'd go to stores that would post their shipment lists prior to them going on sale and I'd expect to come home with one thing only to buy something else instead. I certainly do have some restraint since I don't have a ton of fish but last weekend I was in Detroit for a concert and just googled Detroit reef stores, it was Sunday morning at the first one open I went to. Turned out to be a really nice shop and I left with a pair of lightning maroon clown fish. I use TTM initially so it's very easy for me to get a QT tank up and running right away but if I do suspect I will be bringing home fish I'll have it ready.

It's ordering off a list that I have a problem with, I have done it and will do it but seeing the fish in person, let alone a fish I was not expecting to see is exciting. It's not just the excitement of bringing them home it's the hopefully years of enjoyment afterword.

I'm picky about my fish. I don't add them often, but when I do... it's usually a little guy that nobody else seems to want because they aren't showy. The little faces peeking out always make me smile.
