I was watching YouTube vids about clownfish and reef tanks all night last night and have decided I want to start a reef tank and hope to gain knowledge from the community. I will be starting in the summer so any tips/info resources would be appreciated. I know I want my first fish pair to be a pair of clownfish.

Welcome welcome! I feel like almost everyone started with a pair of clowns. I did and I still have them. I'll say one thing- go for the largest tank you can afford, have space for, and think you can maintain. You'll always want to go bigger :face-with-tears-of-joy: my first tank was a 16 gal and within 3 months regretted not going with a larger one

This! 55+ is easy to keep alive! Anything less, it’s a headache if you aren’t on top of it

Exactly! When I upgraded to a larger tank, I loved how much easier it was to maintain stability. More glass to clean and water to change, but that's a happy trade-off. Of course, now that I have a 75, I wish I had a 125. It never ends lol

Welcome! I have a channel where I’ve been giving my reefing advice for the last few years as well. There are many topics to cover, and it can get overwhelming fast. I suggest finding someone that has a tank like you want, and mirror their success.

Nice! That's a clean tank. Do you use the whiteboard for tank notes? I thought about putting one of those inside the door of my stand to keep track of things.

That’s a good idea. Yes, i have what’s in stock (for guests to know what’s in the tank and what to keep an eye out for) what I want my tank values to be, my dose for making salt using a 5G bucket, calculate 10%,15%,30% water change volumes etc. So I don’t have to always look it up over and over again.

If you keep bioload light the first year you’ll be fine! I went like 2 months without a water change and I was okay. Just keep topping off the sump. (Had to switch to canister due to plumbing fault)
