I need all info I can get on wet/dry system. Where is the best place to learn about this. How it works how to start it up. I just got a 220 gallon for a killer deal (free), everything is dead in it and I guess I'm starting from beginning. But I know nothing about a wet/dry system. Please help!!!

My 25 year mature system initially was a 75G display with a Jaubert Plenum on top with a 30G EcoSystem miracle mud / macro algae refugium, which included wet/dry section.

Five years ago, I converted algae refugium to cryptic refugium by turning out the lights, composting tomatoes with seaweed and adding live rock to refugium. In 25 years, mud depth increased from 0.5” to 1.25”: felt spongy to the touch and is crawling with worms.

I consider the wet dry section best for gas exchange.

Are you sure you have a wet/dry trickle filter? Those have largely fallen out of favor in the hobby. Can you post a few pics of what you have?
