I’ve set up a frag tank 6+ months ago to consolidate tanks, while building a new tank. Well, it was a “temporary solution” or “I will get to it later” kinda thing. Days, weeks, and months go by and all these “temporary” solutions became permanent. Now it’s a mess and an accident (e.g. fire) waiting to happen!

So over the weekend, I’ve decided completely overhaul the bottom of the tank! See before & after shots below.

What about you guys? Is cleaning up the bottom of your tank on your New Year’s Resolution list?

NIce clean up!

I'm half way through mine.
Nice — it’s super time consuming right?

It’s boring and grunt work but very satisfying. I always do a before & after shots to show a sense of accomplishment. :)

My stand houses my ato container and extra salt. But I have a small fish room to house everything else. When we moved, I told myself I would build one and it’s been so nice!

Corey
Everything is in my “fish room” so I need to be tidy. The wife will make me shut it down if messy — besides, I’m a little OCD so this stuff bothers me!

Next up: my fragging workstation/table!

Its definitely time consuming.

A tank swap sort of necessitated the cleanup, though as time was the essence I'm going back and cleaning it up.

I had to build a corner of a cabinet basically to have things to screw on to (cabinet is aluminum).

In the process of decommissioning the old tank it became very apparent that power bricks on the floor is a bad idea, as some of them get incredibly hot (my redsea LED bricks are the worst of the worst for heat). So on the new corner cabinet they are now velco'd up the sides.

lol - same thing for me as I was consolidating tanks. As you can see from my "before" pic, it was on a plastic cover. If there's a leak, it will eventually get to the bricks & controllers. Having these things mounted off the ground gives me peace of mind.

That, and the industrial Velcro was not holding the apex on the back.

It fell, disconnected the return pump, and freaked me out for 20min

The apex control unit or the eb832? The head unit is very light so velcro should work, right?

When I moved my 75 to my 100 across the room I chose these black metal stands from petco on purpose.

I hated my cabinet stand.
Couldn't get my broken body in and out of it.
I love the fact that everything is now zip tied to the bars with no more spaghetti. ;)
I've even got room for a laundry basket.

Waterbox infinia 220.6 came with a stand, which I do like. But they could have made it easier to add equipment!

Agreed!
I also like the metal because I'm very messy when I clean and do water changes and I never have to worry about warped wood again.

I've been meaning to mount equipment controllers and do a ton of cord management since I finished my tank swap a couple of months ago, and I still intend to, but.............

I built the stand with a separate compartment for all of the electrical, and I can't see any of it unless I open the door and look - so I don't, thus the reason I haven't cleaned up the mess. It doesn't exist if I can't see it.

Though I will say that the sump side is very tidy as I see it daily.

This was just before I finished the last bit of clean up and snapped the doors on.
