So I am starting the idea board for my hopefully near future tank upgrade. I want it to be a #1 Stunner! (In my eyes at least)

To me this means an overall aesthetic not just inside the tank. I'm thinking an accent wall with wall paneling and maybe a custom sign above. Shiplap or nickel gap Hardie plank. May try to fashion a sconce style to cover my noopsyches.

Anyway what have others done? Feel free to post a Pic of your efforts so I can steal ideas! This will be in my kitchen dining room with wife approval needed lol.

Now that I know the rules I can give you a perfect idea that will surely work for you; Ask her.

this is my tank before the teardown. the LED board was purchased here on r2r but am unsure if they're being made/sold, still. there's artists you can buy merch from that create art/paintings that are UV reactive and glow under blue lighting as well.

I remember those. Haven't seem them recently. Etsy has some cookie cutter ones that don't look too bad.

I want a big set of shark jaws behind mine

Some glass bouy floats, cork, and old netting

A sextant, and one of those brass barometer boards with three dials

Maybe a stuffed fish

Full Carolina Crabhouse motif. I love it!

It is still a work in progress, as I am still in the middle of this build, but I wanted to do something so that the tank didn’t just “disappear” after the tank light shut off for the night. So, I robbed a led light from an old tank lid we weren’t using (upgraded the lid) and mounted as a backlight. It also helps light the inside of my stand. Which I enjoy how it makes the tank look in a dark room. The light has multiple colors to choose from, and has a remote. I am still thinking about adding something on the actual wall behind it, but not sure what that will be yet.

Wow cool idea! I imagine the led strip light kits they sell for the back of a TV would work for a tank as well.

I painted the wall behind my Aquarium a Dark Blue. Really makes the Aquarium stand out. The Color is Behr’s Ink Blue, but I had it mixed up in a different brand of paint. Like Behr for Exterior, but their Interior Fumes are too strong for me.

I was thinking of painting some shiplap a very similar color.

I like to have nothing but a wall. I prefer the tank to be the only focal point. This is for larger tanks where they pretty much take up the entire wall.

I definitely get this as well.

Just before Covid hit, I had it lined up with someone who did Stage Sets. We were going to do a Poop deck, with Captain Quarters, sunken, burned ship theme. Unfortunately he died from Covid, after taking a job at a grocery store. The Ink blue paint was the background for that.
