what are FireFox extensions?

i am a firefox user, and i saw someone mentioning something about firefox extensions.

i guess they are add on programs for the firefox software......

what are they?

where do you get them?

are they any good?

I use one for flash/java and certain audio support. I also use different themes to make the "look" of my browser a bit more simple.

i dont use it but will say there are a lot of differnt plugins you can get for firefox and they all do differnt things. there is one that will down load and update news group info , there are ones that can read XML data site have listed for like news and forum information aswell as a spell check when you are typing in forum posts.

the best you can do is ask which plugin they might have and will it help you use firefox better.

there are sites out there for firefox plugins and i think there is a basic list on their web site.

does anyone use thunderbird over outlook, as an email client?

i'm kinda ticked with outlook, as it crashes for no reason quite often it seems like.

but can you do the same things with it? like the calender/appointment system?

and can you set rules in the email? i.e. IF it comes from this sender then it goes to THIS folder?

Firefox is the bomb!

Internet Explorer really ticked me off the last time they updated the look and controls. I switched to Firefox and haven't looked back.

I've downloaded a few add-ons, mostly "downloading" tools since I use my laptop at work
and download a lot of papers and other things (Download Plus and PDF Download).
