What are you using for Long Hoses for water changes

My water change mixing barrel is about 50 feet from my tank. I have a pump I can use to pump water out of the display, then move to the mixing barrel to pump back in.

For something this far, what hoses are people using that are easy to store inbetween? Should I just get fifty feet of regular vinyl hose or is there an easier way?

Hurt the shoulder, so no more just moving jugs for me. :(

I just use a vinyl hose. If you have a Menards near you, they have some that are lighter weight compared to others so may be easier to work with due to your shoulder.

I would go to any of the big box stores and buy it by the foot. That is what I do and it's much cheaper than buying a "specialty" hose. For your pump, get one of those Wifi controlled plugs so you can turn it on and off with your phone. I do that since I pump my RO water up from the basement. I run the hose upstairs, get it set, turn the pump on, when it's full, I turn the pump off all from my phone.

I use a 55G drum to mix and Mag 12 to pump thru 100’ of vinyl hose.

Soon my dream would be to automate my water changes soon with dedicated pumps and float switches so I flip a switch waste drains a calculated amount directly to a drain flip some more switches it will pump new saltwater to the sump no more buckets ever

Sorry about the shoulder, most of my joints are badly worn so I get that buckets don't cut it.
I use a 50' python water change hose left over from my freshwater days. That and a pond pump from home depot push water up from the basement to the tanks above. The python is just vinyl hose but it seems to be more flexible than the vinyl hose i see in bulk and it comes with a hose attachment that screws right on to the pump. I can can coil it up and hang it dor storage which ive never been able to do with most vinyl hose.

In the interest of always siphoning the gravel I tend to use a gravel vacuum to start but tend to favor pails in case i pull substrate. This could easily be altered to be pump driven from the tank to dump in a drain and then just use your normal system to fill.

I have a 100ft hose in a reel myself.. I forgot the name but it’s a typical garden hose with stainless ends and fittings on it.

I use the python water change hoses as well because they come with the fitting that attaches to the Sicce utility pumps I use. (Same thing could probably be accomplished cheaper but I'm not a diy'r.) I have 40 gallons of fresh saltwater mixed up in my pantry. Put a 40 gallon Brut next to the tank. Syphon about 40 gallons out of the tank. Pump that with Sicce utility pump and python hoses to tub in nearby bathroom. Pump new saltwater from pantry to tank with Sicce utility pump and python hoses. No toting buckets.

I looked this up, and don’t see any mention of stainless fittings. Is that something you added yourself?

I use the green eheim hose. Doesn’t kink like the hose from the hardware store.
