Planning to get a ReefKeeper Elite Plus, I don't know what I can do with this thing. I know I can set time for lights to turn on/off, etc. What else can I do? The reason why I got this thing in the first place is that I found it on Craiglist, and this guy is near my area. He just wants to get rid of it (for the new Apex), so I got a good deal.
  • So what can I do this the ReefKeeper Elite+?
  • Has anyone had one of these? If you do can you tell me your experience?
  • Can I do an ATO with this?
  • Will this affect my other programmable controllers such as my skimmer, powerhead, and lights?

RKE controllers are great. I use mine to monitor tank health, ATO, lights, dosing, skimmer. With 240 module capabilities you can do about anything you want with it. Good luck!

Do you need one of these (RKM-SID) in order to use the program you down load from there site to make all the changes and such on your computer?

Just looked at BRS, and saw the Vertex Cerebus. Any thoughts on that, seem pretty cool device.

Yes you will need a SID to update the modules and connect the controller to a computer. Programming can be done from the head unit but it is easier to do it from a computer. Imo the DA controller is a solid stable aquarium controller and can handle all of the basic aquarium control needs. A few are control temp, monitor ph, ato, lights, auto feeders, pumps, skimmers and even send alerts.

I have the lite, and currently use it for the following things:

Controls my heater (Better than it can)
ATO
Skimmer Shutoff (when I cut the return off to feed), Float valve gets triggered, shuts off skimmer so it doesn't overflow
Skimmer Shutoff, Float valve in the cup shuts it off if its about to overflow
Time for my ReefBrite lite
Monitors temp
Monitors PH
