I am weird. I can grow most sps and softies pretty good. But LPS, specifically hammers, frogspawn, and torch have been my weakness. But working on that. All of my coral have had their ups and downs, but my “Walt Disney” Acropora Tenuis colony has finally started to perk up after a few years. Also monti cap grows like crazy.

you must have clean water and slightly low nutrients? i know that favors sps over lps. im the opposite right now. my torches and hammers are growing big time. also flow. my Euphylia respond much better and grow better to low flow. once i cut back the flow on them they really opened up and started to grow.

I think it has more to do with flow. I'm the same way, in that euphyllia have a hard time adapting to my tank and eventually meets their demise.

It makes sense too, the flow requirements to successfully grow sps is completely different than euphyllia.

That's partly the reason people claim a mixed reef is harder because you have to tamp down flow to accommodate. And why you see most successful mixed reefs have the easy sps.

Not too clean really, but it depends on which tank. I have five right now with different parameters. I had a LPS only tank, and it was great for about 8 months. Then everything started to get tissue loss and die off. I suspect an infection, but don’t really know (No BJD). I have some various types now, but I am cautious about expanding past the easier species.

My Hollywood stunner goes from softball to football every 8 months or so, extremely aggressive

They’re paper thin, not sure where they hide these tentacles that come out at night and kill the neighbors

December 2021 to now in my Biocube 32. I have had my ups and downs with this aquarium. The Stylophora and my Aussie toadstool leather have done fantastic. Sorry the recent picture is so blue, I'm currently using the AI Prime lights in acclimation mode.
