My graciliaria is taking over! I can't bring myself to trim and throw any away. I brought some to my LFS and did a 1:1 exchange for this caulerpa, but that was the only kind of macro they had and now I just have these two masses taking over and my tank isn't too pretty anymore. I think it's sucking up all of the nutrients before my smaller algae can grow, too. I used to have a ton of red ogo in here but then it all died out as the hayi tripled+ in size. I recently got a goby and pistol shrimp, so I don't want to disturb the sand too much anymore. Should I try selling some online, or is that more hassle than it's worth?

Got any Reefing homies around?

You can give it to your LFS for others. Otherwise, you're going to have to just toss it. It'll keep growing.
What are homies? But really, good idea looking for someone local. I'll reach out to my other LFS too

I’m in the same position .
it grows too fast and have no one local
The lfs will take it and offered a cheap credit. But it’s over a 1 hour drive .

I have thrown many handfuls out in the trash to keep it under control

It's so beautiful, I can't bring myself to toss it! I convinced my husband to let me set up my old 20 cube again.. I'm going to move a lot of it over.

The one part that confuses me ..
this stuff grows too fast . I have trouble keeping nitrates between 2.5 and 5 ppm
Phosphates are at 0.05
I have my skimmer return from the external skimmer going into the same compartment .
there is tons of flow in that section of the sump . But I still get the brown mushy feather dusters along with red cyano on the surface of the cheato .
I just stirred this up a little to take the picture

With Macros one species in time will take over the tank. You need to trim it to keep it in check. The interesting thing is that one species is dominant then a growth months another might take the lead.
