What do you do with the algae from your ATS

So tonight I just scrapped like a 12oz cup worth of algae off my ATS screen and tossed it like usual. Never even occurred to me till now that I should try to perhaps preserve it and freeze it into small cubes and feed it back to my tangs. They’ed probably go bonkers over it given how they react when I scrape it from my glass. Curious now what others do with you excess algae.

pre-crash, when I had my ATS running; I didn’t have any tangs to try feeding it to, so I just tossed it out…

I can imagine that you could realistically just scrape a small section of your scrubber daily to feed to tangs fresh! — if you plan it out right; you’d be scraping the entire algae cultivation area within the usual service interval, albeit in small, frequent segments!

I can imagine that freezing would be a bit more challenging, nutritionally speaking… I suppose you could always keep the scraped algae live in another saltwater container for use as needed, or just let your tangs graze off the ATS for a few minutes before you scrape it!

It grows fast, I have one tang, I just grab a pinch each day and toss it in.

Harvest day, I toss some into the DT for the foxface and throw the rest away. About to set up a SURF2, which may make harvesting easier and I might try a pinch daily or every other day.

Tang food. I have two surf units so harvesting is easy peasy. I put it in a Tupperware container wet and it keeps for a few days. With two running i almost always have some to feed. I have 10 tangs so I rarely have to throw any away. I just toss it in the tank through out the day.
