Mine eats nothing I feed.....................its getting annoying. Here is what I have tried.

Frozen Brine
Frozen Mysis
Flake
Pellet
Nori
Nori cube

I have added selcon and garlic to all the above as well

Nothing.........

I have had this little guy for about 1 month. Obviously he eats a little but all I see him eat is a little film algae here and there. He is very skinny. Worried about the little guy. No other fish in the tank, just him in a frag tank.

I’ve pretty much always had a lawnmower or a starry Bennie for the entire time I’ve been keeping reefs. I’ve never fed them anything and they’ve been fat off the algae in the tank. But I’ve always kept them in my display tank. So, there was always plenty of algae. Sorry I don’t have a good suggestion here.

If he gets hungry enough he'll eat. Is he skinny? If not I wouldn't worry too much for now. He'll get accustomed to what you feed and recognize it for food eventually

Your definately trying all of the right foods so its not that, something else must be wrong if it's getting skinny

Mine took about 6 months to figure out how to eat prepared foods. I had plenty of algae in a 125 for him, and a few fish to show him how.

+1 -- my lawnmower blenny is in my display tank. All he eats is the algae. (And he is good at it.)

Do you have him in a quarantine or a display tank? Quarantines really won't help for the whole algae diet thing due to such small amounts that grow there. Have you tried Romaine or Kale or something? Terrestrial greens aren't exactly healthy -- more like a treat. But it might get his eating habits stimulated.

Weirdest thing. I was worried about my lawnmower blenny as well. I don't have a lot of algae in my tank (just the occasional dusting on the glass) and he was getting skinny. He would pick at the seaweed I put on a clip every couple days but was definitely getting skinny. He would never even look at the pellets or mysis I fed the other fish. Have had him for about five months. Suddenly and without warning two weeks ago, he flew up to the surface when I was feeding and was challenging all the other fish for pellets. Now he eats like a champ and has already put on weight. No explanation other than I think he finally got hungry enough. I was definitely worried though.

I'm also wondering if it would help to add another fish to show him that prepared foods are edible. Just a thought.

In my case it was what he/she doesn't eat. It ate everything including the kitchen sink. Nori, pellet, mysis, brine, flake, algae on rocks, and poop from other fish. Go figure. A bit of selcon doesn't hurt in some cases to get it to strike. Garlic I tend to stay away from but have heard some people use it with success. Not sure if you have aggressive eating fish or a lot of them swimming actively at feeding time but maybe that is part of it. If not continue to try and drop a bit of food throughout the day and see how that works.

I feed my fish a lot of frozen and live stuff, and little pieces of nori and tang heaven macro algae in the mix.. I never see my lawnmower eat any of it. She does run up and down the tank back walls pulling off whatever. She did eat all the bryopsis, now I have none, but never touched the hair stuff.
