I was able to fit a SURF2xx where I initially intended for a ClariSeaSK5000 (still unopened in box) followed by a skimmer(dry) after.
Still growing out the initial phase of algae until critical mass. My vision for it is that it'll be a natural "fleece roller" as the algae gets thicker, trapping particles while fueling more growth (or maybe it'll rot, experiment). When algae full, just pull out some as per maintenance and it'll be like putting in a new roll of fleece. The SURF2xx is mounted over some spare live rocks and I have some ghost shrimps in there to nom up additional food that slips by.
So far so good as I feed heavy (6-8 frozen cubes + 1min Avast) and fish are doing fine. Algae growing slow at the moment. Crosses fingers
