There are a few like Green Morey, Snowflake, Hawaiian Congor Eel, and a lot more. Eels are protected so it may have something to do with that, like risks of disease or something. It may be a way to minimize the risk of a non-native species getting in to the environment. I know there are eels in the Hawaiian waters but not sure which ones.
Yeah if they are protected there is that too. They have no idea where that snowflake came from. They probably just assume you took it from the wild or whoever you bought it from did. There are a few like Green Morey, Snowflake, Hawaiian Congor Eel, and a lot more. About ten months in. Proud of the progress, but wow seeing some of these tanks is humbling. Bravo to the tank with the giant colonies.
Eels are a no go, shops can only sell fish for the saltwater side. You can however collect for your personal aquarium but there are limitations on the species, etc. as well that I can't recall off the top of my head.I would love to buy an eel or something from him
Is collecting eels in Maui allowed?Eels are a no go, shops can only sell fish for the saltwater side. You can however collect for your personal aquarium but there are limitations on the species, etc. as well that I can't recall off the top of my head.
The shop is on Oahu but only does freshwater for now. I think they have plans on expanding to saltwater soon since I've talked to them about selling some of my baby clownfish. Here's a link to their (hilariously named) shop: https://mastahbetta.com/
