Thanks!
On an unrelated note, since I'm still at petco... for a 20 gallon reef, would these gius be a safe add?

Labeled as a short spine urchin but i'm not sure.
They are safe but have a tendency to dislodge corals.

Had one in my tank (tuxedo urchin). It would occasionally knock off corals, but it did good at eating algae

Its a fish you will probably want to fish out as they are the largest of most dottybacks seen in our hobby, and they do not tollerate anything that looks or has the same figure as them.

But yeah, as gumby stated its a splendid dottyback.

If that urchin has purple spines... it is also a snail eatter.
Confirmed they will go after your snails, if they do not have enough to eat, and they are extreme gluttons as well.

do they eat hair algae?

tuxedos yes, but the one the op showed is not a tuxedo.
Tux's are typically blue or or red with black.
They do not have the purple spines.

I do not recommend the one the OP showed a picture of, as those are confirmed snail killers.

I have this fish it’s a jewel Pygmy basslet I have him in a nano tank and I love him. Loads of people say that these guys are aggressive. I’ve got mine in with a small tang like 50p size and he’s perfectly fine no aggression whatsoever and they’re very easy to keep. However every fish is difference just watch out for aggression if you do get him
