Looking to add more fish to my 90g reef.

Currently have a tomini tang (boss), red cardinal, royal gamma, filefish, Christmas wrasse and a fairy wrasse.

No lid on tank.

Tried clown fish. Tang torments to en keeping them near the surface and either they have jumped or dies somehow in days. Tried the mirror trick for a week. No luck as well.

Can I add more wrasses? With that tank not sure what will work.

Once I decide on fish where to get it. The LFS have not had much variety anymore.

Ideas on how to acclimate to this tank as the tang is aggressive. I don’t have a quarantine tank.

Maybe a Coral Beauty or Flame Angel no lid makes it hard...... everything I would suggest would need a lid or a jump guard around the top

Will they eat corals?

Any ideas on a lid? No glass? Has the glass lid and it killed the PAR drastically

Tried another LFS hardly any fish. I guess this hobby is really fading.

Mesh lids - you can often DIY them so they go over the tank.

The mesh I use now is Tulle. It’s so fine that at certain angles you can’t see it. And it doesn’t impact the PAR readings much at all.

It’s also safer for fish as it reduces the risk of a spinal injury due to the trampoline type behaviour, it’s almost like a landing mat then bounces fish back into the water with minimal harm.

A lid is a must have on tanks IMHO. Especially if you’re wanting wrasses, they are notorious for jumping. I’ve had wrasses in tanks with lids on and they have found their way into the sump even then.

As for adding wrasses, it depends on what your current two are. A “Fairy Wrasse” could be any species from Cirrhilabrus (and if you got it from an LFS, could even be a Paracheilinus species). Christmas wrasse is another scientific that covers 5 different species, of which a couple are Thalassoma species which are notoriously territorial and aggressive even in 6-8 foot tanks.
