What foxface is it?

I've seen a very short clip of a foxface on TV. It looks like a Magnificent but it had kind of a merle/splotchy pattern on its back where the dark spot would be. Anyone know what that one might be?

It was probably still a magnificent. I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to without a picture, but all fox faces change color very easily when they're stressed or when lighting conditions change quickly. Especially the magnificent will get blotchy some times since it is normally mostly white, but the color will always return to normal and lose the blotchy look if they're happy and healthy.

Checked that out and it's almost it, but not quite. Not enough white on it. The pattern was almost like the blue merle Australian shepherd dog, and it was only in the dark section. If nobody else has ideas I might have to go with the color alteration theory posted above.

Could very well be the coloration stress. They get really weird colors when they get freaked out.

I realize my thread here is old, but I just ran across what fish it is and thought people might be interested. n_n
