what is a grafted goni?

Means it combined two or more gonis of different color. You’ll find it more in montis

I don’t know a lot about the subject but it’s usually when two corals grow together into one. It causes some really cool coloration. I’m not familiar with it for gonis but again I just have a basic understanding of it.
The coral that I hear about grafting the most is montipora IME

It can be both. I will say if you’re looking at getting a goni just know they are very up and down coral. They will be fine for months and months the one day poof. Gone.

I see. I have a few gonis for 2 months now. I hope they survive.

I think it can occur naturally but I believe it’s usually forced, but you can just glue two frag together and it be grafted.
Here is my grafted monti cap which is kinda plain

They can have some really cool color patterns

Yes flowerpots and alevropora are a fragile coral. Sensitive. Testy. Lol.

Grafted just means the coral has colors from near by corals "grafted" on to it. Like a skin graft.
Really a kool feature and worth spending a little more $ on imo as it usually provides more coloration.

Not to derail the thread but if you have issues with goni you should do a little research on manganese. There is some pretty compelling evidence that keeping elevated manganese is the trick to keeping gonis happy.

Good suggestion, I dose trace elements once a week I will see if manganese is in it.

I recently sent off an icp test and that was one of the main reasons I did it.

The problem with the trace element additives that only use a few solutions is that if you want to increase onelement you have to increase multiple elements. That’s one reason that the moonshiners method is gaining popularity. You also won’t know your levels without icp testing.

With that said I also use a 2part trace elements additive.

Also just watching manganese is not a guarantee of success with gonis.
